With rising energy costs and the growing importance of reducing carbon footprint our facilities are something we can no longer afford to ignore. Performance Point’s Commercial Building Performance Consultants will give you more than just an energy audit; we’ll give you a Performance Audit. The goal of the Performance Audit is to find opportunities to:
- Reduce energy consumption
- HVAC
- Lighting
- Water heating
- Enhance the indoor environment for
improved productivity and morale
- Natural daylighting
- Thermal comfort
- Indoor air quality
- Reduce water consumption
- Reduce maintenance requirements
- Improve your margin
A Performance Audit breaks down into two parts:
- Administration
-Data collection/analysis (utility bills and maintenance costs)
-Occupant survey
-Available ongoing monitoring
-Facilities/maintenance training
-Analysis of inspection data
-Reporting of on-site findings
-Assistance filing with State, Federal, and utility reimbursement programs
- On Site Inspection
-IT – analyze opportunities to virtualize servers
-Lighting – bulbs, fixtures, daylight, automatic controls
-HVAC – sizing, motors, airflow balancing, ventilation, combustion effeciency
-Water usage – irrigation, lavatories…
-Building Envelope – insulation, air sealing, fenestration, roofing
-“Plug Loads”
-Solar Site Evaluation
-Infared Thermography
What you’ll get from Performance Point
During the Administrative parts of the audit Performance Point will create software workspace models to determine appropriate lighting sensor placement, software energy models to accurately predict ROI on improvement work, and solar models to determine gains that can be made from shading and potential solar array outputs. We will also be working behind the scenes to make sure we help you maximize state and federal tax credits and grant money along with dollars utility companies put forward. The reporting you receive from us will guide you in making the most informed decisions about where to spend building improvement dollars.
The on site part of the inspection is completed with a variety of tools to gather quality information including Blower Door to test air infiltration, Thermal Camera to look for air sealing/insulation improvement opportunities, Combustion Analyzer, dataloggers, Borescope, moisture meters, hygrometers…and the list goes on. All the fancy software and cool tools cannot replace a well-trained and experienced technician…you’ll get one of those too.
We understand that one of the challenges after an audit is finding contractors who you can trust to expertly and cost effectively perform the retrofit work prescribed in the audit. Sensitive to this dilemma Performance Point provides retrofit services and can act as your GC for what we don’t do with our own people. After all an audit is only as effective as the improvements it produces!
