  • HERS stands for Home Energy Rating System. The HERS Rating process is governed by RESNET, which oversees standards, training, quality assurance, and a formal complaint resolution process. The HERS Rating is a measurement that tells you how energy-efficient a home is compared to a standard reference home. The lower the score, the more energy-efficient the home is! Because of the straightforward rating system and rigorous quality standards, HERS is used as a part of many other energy efficiency and rebate programs, such as Energy Star.

  • Indoor airPLUS, an extension of ENERGY STAR Certified Homes, prioritizes indoor air quality. The certification considers construction materials, techniques, and occupant behavior. To earn the IAP label, efforts must focus on reducing VOC levels, maintaining clean air handling systems, and ensuring proper ventilation during construction. The program also promotes mechanical design practices to decrease indoor humidity. It's an essential "add-on" for homes seeking comprehensive energy efficiency and superior indoor air quality, aligning with the growing emphasis on healthier living environments.

  • Any qualifying homes in Duke Energy Carolinas territory in South Carolina permitted on or after 12/8/2022 are eligible for incentives and can be submitted in the RNC Program.

  • Duke has recently announced an update to the Duke HERO program. In an effort to help builders in the North Carolina and South Carolina climate zone 3 market serviced by Duke Energy Carolinas, Duke has announced the ACE program.

  • Dominion Energy offers voluntary programs to help customers live more sustainably! Reducing your energy usage, supporting renewable energy, and offsetting your carbon footprint has never been easier.

Code Compliance

  • RESchecks

    Building code officials may require a REScheck to verify your installed combination of insulation R-Values and window U-Values meet or exceed local building code requirements. Some municipalities even require a REScheck or engineer-stamped Simulated Performance Alternative prior to issuing a building permit. We perform both with super fast turn around times and great prices for builders and insulators.

  • Duct Testing

    Most modern energy codes require duct leakage testing. The duct blaster test is similar to the blower door test, but only tests the leakage of the duct work. During the test the HVAC system is isolated so leakage through unsealed connections can be measured. The test can be done alone or with the blower door to isolate leakage outside the building envelope, or without to measure total duct leakage.

  • Blower Door

    Some energy codes require the total envelope air leakage to be measured with a Blower Door. The test quantifies air infiltration and can help pinpoint air leakage pathways. Sealing unwanted air infiltration helps reduce energy consumption, prevents moisture issues, and avoid uncomfortable drafts. During the test a fan is placed in an exterior opening. The fan lowers air pressure inside the home causing outside air to flow inside through unsealed gaps in the envelope and ducts. The test determines air infiltration rate and leaks by measuring the air flow necessary to maintain negative pressure inside the house.

  • Loads/Manual J

    In many areas an HVAC load is required at permit or CO. Performance Point can provide a code compliant design or take your designs to the next level offering top-notch Manual J, D, and S, along with 3D duct design for single family and multi-family contractors.
